I just finished this book and wow was it amazing. VERY thought provoking and transformative. I’ve only read a few books in my life that have shook me up like this one. This book, while not directly about health is about us being able to potentially live long and healthy lives. There is a shocking array of disasters heading rapidly towards our civilization. They range from political to environmental to cultural and technological. This doesn’t need to viewed as necessarily a bad thing. But when a collapse comes, which seems iinevitable to me, I’d like to be prepared.
In the first part of this book Thom lays it all out. It is shocking and riveting and will scare your pants off. I was talking about this to a friend who said he had picked up the book but just couldn’t get through the first part. However we all NEED to read books like this and face the facts. It’s like if you have an illness and you don’t want to go to the doctor to have it checked out because of fear. Like it or not, our civilization is running full speed towards the edge of a cliff. Those who face up to it and do things NOW to prepare will be much much better off when it all finally collapses. And it is possible that through our individual efforts we can save the best of our civilization for whatever is to follow.
The greatest thing about this book is he doesn’t just lay it out but gives lots of advice on how to prepare. There is a lot of practical advice, but he also talks about spirituality and the importance of spiritual practices and much more.
HIGHLY recommended reading.
