Originated by Stanislav Grof, based on ancient healing practices, Holotropic Breathwork™ provides a safe and caring container for deep self-exploration in non-ordinary states of consciousness. Participants use their breath to access these non-ordinary states and, in doing so, surrender to a natural process of inner healing.
Holotropic Breathwork is greatly recommended for people who want to heal family trauma, people who want to access and expand their creativity, and people who are looking for a non-denominational, non-religious, substance-free spiritual path.
Holotropic Breathwork is an easy practice, wherein the breather lies on a mat and breathes. The process is helped by music and the breather is taken care of by facilitators and sitters. After the session, breathers are encouraged to talk about their experiences and do some art work to facilitate integration.
Holotropic Breathwork is counter-indicated for pregnant women or anyone with severe cardiovascular problems, severe schizophrenia, multiple personality disorder, or epilepsy. Participants under the age of 18 must have the permission of a legal guardian to attend the workshop.
